Survey Answers

Our last survey question was a two-part question. In response to the first part What benefits do you derive from IAHCSMM membership? we had the following responses:

  • IAHCSMM is a great networking avenue, it gives me the opportunity to interact with other people in my profession. Respondents also mentioned that the new, online Discussion Forum offers them a great way to achieve this and get support from peers.
  • Informative and educational articles in Communique. The certification courses offered are presented professionally and provide a great training experience. Citing their certification through IAHCSMM, members mentioned an increase in salary, respect from co-workers, and a sense of higher esteem about themselves as benefits obtained. Quite a few people mentioned how it helps them keep up-to-date with new policy information and the changing requirements and standards in the healthcare field. Annual and Fall Meetings are very educational. Job opportunities.
  • Helps me focus on my professional career ladder.

Where can IAHCSMM improve? was the second part to the question and yielded these responses:

  • Could add more test sites, more instructors available in different areas. More self-study series on changes in healthcare, CS facilities, reprocessing, care & cleaning of endoscopic scopes. More awards to entice techs to achieve. I think IAHCSMM improves every year. Increase professionalism by "raising the bar." Lower costs for some services. Offer more "grass roots" educational materials. Take more stands in standardization of procedures. CS Techs need to be acknowledged more.
  • Be more proactive in uniting the profession.

Our thanks to all those who responded.
