Ad-hoc Orthopedic Council
Responsibilities: 
- To work collaboratively with IAHCSMM, AAMI and the Orthopedic Specialty Manufacturer’s Association (OSMA). To develop policies, procedures and products that enhance patient care and are safe and efficient for Central Service departments.
Goals:
- To develop sample Policy & Procedures
- To be a resource for IAHCSMM and its members on answering any questions pertaining to Orthopedic Trays (loaners); maybe have a hotline on the IAHCSMM website specifically pertaining to Orthopedic items
- To develop interactive learning modules, either stand alone or an LMS structure that can be incorporated into any hospital HR Learning Module System to be used on an ongoing basis for annual competency training programs
- To communicate committee activities to the membership though Communiqué, and reports to the IAHCSMM Board of Directors.
- To be the liaison between Central Service and the Orthopedic Specialty Manufacturers Association as well as being a member of their National Association
- To participate in working groups with manufacturers of orthopedic instrumentation and rigid container systems
- To provide the Manufacturer's Cleaning and Sterilization recommendations by reaching out to the Orthopedic Manufacturer's
- To develop a standard steam sterilization cycle for all vendor trays.
- To stay abreast of any new things pertaining to Orthopedic items
- To identify the challenges and maybe come up with some solutions concerning orthopedic loaner trays
- To provide training/updates at our Annual IAHCSMM Meeting
- To advise and assist manufacturers of Orthopedic Instrumentation and Rigid Container systems in the validation of their combined products using the standard sterilization parameters of Healthcare facilities
- To partner with orthopedic manufacturers to develop educational grants

Responsibilities:
- To select capable individuals to oversee meeting room procedures; monitoring equipment, lighting, and room temperature performance and / or operating conditions.
- Direct attendees to appropriate sessions, rooms and monitor session / break times, adhering to daily conference schedules.
- Provide and assist attendees, moderators and speakers with required information or additional resource to address meeting needs on-the-spot.
- Assess meeting room setup / occupancy counts and ascertain moderators are present as required per session.
- Perform as liaison between attendees and IAHCSMM office staff.
- Perform as liaison between IAHCSMM and hotel / conference management-technical personnel.
- Maintain security, visibility and availability of audio-visual/computer equipment.
- Confirm moderator is present to introduce session’s speaker. In the event moderator fails to show, accommodate replacement introduction.
Goals:
- To help provide a smooth operational conference for IAHCSMM members - promoting a safe, functional and professional conference.
- To function as Goodwill ambassadors for IAHCSMM, supplying and/or directing attendees to the appropriate resources, assuring the best possible conference experience for our membership.
