Message from the President
I am pleased to report to you that at the past IAHCSMM Annual meeting in Louisville Kentucky on May 2nd, the Lower Hudson Valley Southern New York Chapter was unanimously voted as a full participating Chapter within the Organization.
I am also pleased to report that the Chapter was also formally approved by the NYS Chapter as a functioning member.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LHVSNY CHAPTER BOARD OFFICERS AND MEMBERS!!
With these achievements come the responsibilities for all current members, Managers, and prospective members to be active at the Chapter, State and national levels. This can be accomplished by becoming active at monthly meetings, seminars and conferences.
On May 17th, the NYS Chapter is sponsoring a day in Albany to lobby the legislators on behalf of NYS certification for CS professionals. I urge all Managers to encourage staff to attend this very important cause. The NYS Chapter will be providing transportation to and from Albany, with several stops along the way for the convenience and to increase attendance of members. Please visit the NYS Chapter website at www.nycentralservice.org for more information.
On June 10 -11th, The State Chapter will be hosting its annual chapter meeting at Niagara Falls. Please encourage your staff to attend. Besides being a breath taking location, the presentations will be very informative and educational.
On June 15th. the LHVSNY Chapter will be hosting a Board of Directors, and a member meeting. 3M will be presenting “Sterilization Jeopardy”, a fun and learning experience for all members from 4:30PM – 6:30PM. All are welcome.

Welcome to IAHCSMM NEW CHAPTER in the Lower Hudson Valley of the Empire State!
I wish to express my sincerest gratitude first to the International Headquarters in Chicago, Illinois; the NYS Chapter
and the NYC Chapter for their support and encouragement in assisting to implement a much needed Chapter in the Lower Hudson Valley/Southern NY region ( LHVSNY). Our Chapter encompasses the following Counties: Ulster, Dutchess, Sullivan, Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester.
Our goals are to provide resources to Central Sterile Services technicians in the fields of education, professionalism, NY State certification recognition, and career advancement. This commitment is strongly supported by the Administrative leadership of the area’s Medical and Ambulatory Centers.
As we move forward with our implementation and recruitment efforts during 2011, the Chapter will be rotating its monthly meetings at Medical Centers in each of the seven Counties. To this end, my hope is that Directors, Managers and Supervisors in Central Sterile and Materials Management departments become active participants to grow the Chapter, and to encourage their staff to become certified and active members.
So, let us all join forces and build our Chapter to be the best, to be the model whereby others will emulate our achievements and learn from our failure.
“To be successful, the first thing to do is fall in love with your work”.
